Dementia-friendly Homes

This PhD project aims to cater to the different indoor expectations and needs of both People with Dementia (PwD) and their caregivers by utilizing state-of-the-art IoT and AI technology. To validate the usage of any technology in these dementia-friendly homes and make them more independent and productive in their daily routine, I am visiting people with dementia in their homes all over the UK and engaging them in designing the technology. The project is inspired by the need to empower people with dementia and their caregivers by using smart and friendly 'Healthy Homes' that transform and enhance their daily lives for PwD and their caregivers.

Novel Eye-blink switch

Designed and created a groundbreaking eye blink switch that empowers individuals with upper-limb disabilities to control lighting through simple eye blinks. By allowing users to set up a personalized password based on their preferred blink type (Right "R", Left "L", or Both "B"), the device triggers a relay to turn the light on when the entered eye blink sequence matches the password. This innovative solution, developed by Ahmad, not only enhances accessibility but also ensures a secure and seamless user experience. Experience the future of home control systems and the convenience with this novel eye blink switch.

WARD

Word Assesment Rating Document (WARD), is a software that helps instructors in marking. It allows the instroctor to enter their "keywords" and assign a weight or mark for that keyword. Once the instroctoer enter all of their keywords with their makrs, they upload the the coursework file of their students and the software read the files and generates the final mark and generate a copy of the coursework file highliting the keywords and displaying the total and the submarks in each section in the generated file. Ward is designed to assist teachers with special needs in marking their undergraduate and postgraduate students' coursework effectively and in a timely manner. Sounds intersting?! Email me and let's show you a live demo.

Interactive Design

Designed an interactive website for one of the NHS websites using InVision's collaborative tools, such as Freehand and Boards, to brainstorm solutions, create wireframes, and gather design inspiration in real-time. By leveraging InVision's Studio tool, high-fidelity prototypes were created that closely resembled the final product. Usability tests were conducted by sharing the prototypes with users and collecting their feedback, allowing me to identify any usability issues and make improvements based on user insights. This interactive design was then presented to the NHS to consider updating their website accordingly to make it easy for the patient to locate the service on the website and requested it for thier GPs.
